Ok, I asked this last night but got all kinds of advice, but no answer to my question! I am not using prefolds. I will use fitteds and covers as a newborn because we are not using disposables at all, unlike what ppl recommend. My questions are:
1. How many newborn sized fitted diapers should we have to start out?
2. How many newborn sized covers?
3.When my son is a little bigger we will experiment with AIOs like Bum Genius. I have 6 of those. So, How many of those will I need in all?
4. We were also given 2 fitted small diapers and 5 small diaper covers- How many more fitted diapers will I need?
Any advice on numbers of these I will need. I am not using one-size diapers. I am only using sized diapers that fit frames better because I had a had experience with my very thin-legged 1st son. I just need to know how many of each to plan on buying.
Thanks!
I am asking how many i need to get/buy. I already have the newborn, he should be about 6-7 pounds when born because I am having a c-section. How many?!
correction- I already have some newborn diapers… because my son will be about 6-7 pounds. He may grow out of them quickly but I am not concerned with that. That’s what ebay is for. I just want to be prepared.
I’m going to be using cloth diapers on my baby. I’m stuck between the fitteds and the all in ones. I want something comfortable and leakproof. I was also wondering if these diapers will fit under the onesies and any other clothes I may get at the shower. They all seem to look a little bulkey.
I don’t have any babies, but my husband and I are trying to concieve. Anyway, I’ve done a lot of research on cloth diapers and am seriously considering them because I think they will save us a lot of money.
I’ve figured out that even with the cost of the diapers and laundering we’ll save 00 on our first kid and more than ,000 on every kid after that. (I’m going from birth to potty training) Thankfully, for us, the increase in water usage won’t be an issue because we live in Chicago and here you pay a flat rate no matter how much or how little water you use.
I’m thinking of using Kissaluvs size 0 fitteds http://www.kissaluvs.com/fitted-diapers.php with a cover at first and then transitioning to a one size pocket diaper http://www.kaylasclothkits.com/item_2/KCK-One-Small-Child-Pattern.php (I’ve purchased the pattern will be sewing it)
My question is for all you cloth diapering mom’s how difficult is it to cloth diaper? I am really hoping that I can make it work, because we will save a lot of money and (I believe) cloth is better for baby’s skin.
Also is there anything else that needs to be purchased? I know that special laundry detergents have to be used and one of those sprayers that attaches to the toilet to spray off the poo. But is there anything else that goes into it? Do you like cloth diapering or dislike it and why or why not?
I know I proabably seem like a freak…I just really like to plan!
Is there a certain brand of diapers and/or detergent that you all prefer?
Please star this question if you have contacts who cloth diaper…I want as much input as possible!
We’re considering using cloth diapers, partially for the cost-benefit and patially because it seems a shame to toss out so much trash if it can be avoided. However, we’re really overwhelmed with all of the options and differing techniques.
After quite a bit of research we think that we’ve decided on fitted diapers (possibly kissaluvs), but are a little intimidated by the costs and the potential for ruining them and/or buying something that doesn’t work. What about liners? Can flats be used as liners to "protect" the fitteds or is this just way too much cloth?
Plus, since they aren’t all-in-ones we need a diaper-cover. For this we were thinking the Bummis Super-Whisper Wrap, but that seems like a diapering system where fitteds aren’t necessary (maybe they wouldn’t even work).
To top it all off, we’re not in a position where one of us can stay home. Is cloth diapering even feasible for us? Sorry about the rambling question, we’re definitely novices and could use any help. Thanks
Ok- I have asked this question, but can never get a straight answer, though have gotten a lot of advice. Can someone please tell me how many fitted newborn diapers and covers I will need in the beginning? ALso, how many small fitteds and covers?
In addition, someone gave me 2 newborn all in ones and 7 small aios. I will be using those for travelling only. I also will not be using prefolds- just fitteds and covers. Thanks for any and all help on how many to purchase and have ready!
This video shows how easy cloth diapers can be with AMP Hemp fitted diapers. The baby in this video weighs between 15-16lbs and is wearing a size small AMP hemp fitted diaper and a small Bummis™ Super Whisper Wrap flower print cover she is at the weight limit for the Bummis™ cover and the medium sized cover would have also worked well over this diaper. Environmentally friendly, economicle, beautiful diapers that make it easy to use cloth diapers. Check them out and find a retailer near you at www.ampdiapers.com
So, I just won a big lot of WAHM cloth fitted diapers which I want to start using at night on my son. They are a bit bulky so, I am wondering what a good cover would be for them? I have also used g diapers so, I am trying the g diaper cover tonight, but it seems a bit awkward. But is it always a bit awkward and bulky when working with fitteds since you have a cover? What are some good cheap covers besides the cheap plastic pull-overs by gerber and such that you can buy at walmart. My son can’t wear those.
I am due in October and am starting our with kissaluvs fitteds with covers as a newborn, but am contemplating using a different kind once the baby gets a little older. What diapers do you recommend as day diapers? Night time diapers? Also, do you recommend wool covers?
