I have been cloth-diapering my little one for 17 months now and night time has never been an issue. Recently, she has become an EXTREMELY heavy wetter at night… and in the morning, she is smelly and seemingly uncomfortable from sitting in her "stay-dry" diaper. I have always just put her in a Bumgenius pocket diaper with the regular insert and the infant insert as a doubler and we have never had any issues. I bought her a Kissaluvs wool cover and a home made night time fitted diaper. The results were GREAT. No stink at all.. and the combination was bullet-proof BUT I was not impressed with the fitted diaper "stay-dry" claims. Her bottom was soaking wet. I have considered ordering a Baby Beehinds night time nappy. Any thoughts..? Or other suggestions? I haven’t seen any reviews for this diaper and don’t want to buy them blind.. as they are pretty pricey.
Also..
If you don’t cloth diaper, I don’t want to hear about how I should just put her in a disposable. I have my reasons for using cloth and don’t want your criticism. I respect your parenting decisions and I deserve the same.
I don’t want to hear about how I should be potty training, either. I have a new baby coming in two weeks. Now isn’t the time for two huge changes.
Not trying to be snippy.. but this is mostly what I got last time I asked this question.
Thanks!
Im a FTM due in May and have done quite a bit of research on cloth diapering and have settled on G Diapers although I dont plan on using the flushies. I would like to use a pre-fold or flat-fold as an insert but have not been able to figure out what size or brand to use. Im not wanting to spend a lot and then find out that they dont work. My main question is will the Gerber Diaper Service pre-fold (found at Target or Walmart) fit in to the small G Diaper, or will it be too big?
Thanks for the help!
Did you use the Gerber Diaper Service Cloth Diapers when your dd was a newborn?
Im new to this and dont know how to respond to someones answer… Any help?
I have been doing some research about cloth diapers lately and had a couple questions:
1.) Does anyone have any websites for really good Cloth Diaper Patterns, I’m looking for fitted, AIO, and covers. Sites that people have used, and their past experience with their finished products preferred.
2.) How does my cloth diaper list look?
I was thinking about going with 10 fitted diapers and 15 to 20 Newborn Cloth-eze with about 10-15 Diaper Covers.
We stumbled upon the site gdiapers.com and greenmountaindiapers.com I really like the "Sposoease" AIO diapers, although they are a little too pricey and I also like the GMD Fitted diapers, So if there are any patterns that would most mock those products, or if anyone has any better ideas or suggestions that would be awesome
Any advice or input on Cloth Diapering is welcome
We wouldn’t be using more or less of Dreft laundry soap, Because we are going to be spraying the soiled diapers off into the toilet using a detachable shower head with different adjustments.
Please do a little research online before commenting unless you have personal experience.
i’m new to cloth diapering and considering getting some imse vimse or baby beehinds wool wrap covers (because i dont’ want to use PUL or anything with poly content on my wee love). i wondered about little beetle wool wraps too? i like the bummis super brite covers taht i have, but want to quit using them ASAP – - however – - the gussets work GREAT! which is why i started looking for slim wool covers with gussets. i have a couple knitted wool shorties & one longies (thanks to her grammas), but no wayyyy can i put clothes over them
also – what slim style fitted diapers (or prefolds, or….??) do you use that work best under the trim wool wraps that still did a good daytime job (i cna use the knitted woolies at night)? i’m looking for unbleached, untreated or organic cottons, hemp or bamboo primarily. no synthetics though.
Okay, here is my cloth diapering situation…
prefolds and Thirsties for use at home…
Bumgenius 3.0 and Blueberry Minky one-size pocket diapers go to the babysitter’s house and out for long errands…
Fuzzi Bunz perfect size pocket diapers (much trimmer than Bumgenius and Blueberry) for wear under tight clothes and jeans…
My daughter is 7 months old now and she is really outgrowing the whole prefold thing.. she is becoming such a heavy wetter that I can’t seem to keep her dry.. I know you can add this and that to the prefold (extra layers, fleece, whatever..) in order to keep baby’s skin dry BUT I don’t really want to make my situation more difficult. I work full-time and whatnot…
SO.. I would like a good, TRIM, fitted diaper so that I can continue to use my Thirsties once I ditch the prefolds. Any direction would be nice. I have heard so many things.. my best friend swears by goodmamas but I have read so much garbage about them…
any opinions, suggestions, experiences….?
By the way, money isn’t completely any option… I don’t just want cheap options. I am looking for quality, being able to use them for another child, etc…
I don’t have any babies, but my husband and I are trying to concieve. Anyway, I’ve done a lot of research on cloth diapers and am seriously considering them because I think they will save us a lot of money.
I’ve figured out that even with the cost of the diapers and laundering we’ll save 00 on our first kid and more than ,000 on every kid after that. (I’m going from birth to potty training) Thankfully, for us, the increase in water usage won’t be an issue because we live in Chicago and here you pay a flat rate no matter how much or how little water you use.
I’m thinking of using Kissaluvs size 0 fitteds http://www.kissaluvs.com/fitted-diapers.php with a cover at first and then transitioning to a one size pocket diaper http://www.kaylasclothkits.com/item_2/KCK-One-Small-Child-Pattern.php (I’ve purchased the pattern will be sewing it)
My question is for all you cloth diapering mom’s how difficult is it to cloth diaper? I am really hoping that I can make it work, because we will save a lot of money and (I believe) cloth is better for baby’s skin.
Also is there anything else that needs to be purchased? I know that special laundry detergents have to be used and one of those sprayers that attaches to the toilet to spray off the poo. But is there anything else that goes into it? Do you like cloth diapering or dislike it and why or why not?
I know I proabably seem like a freak…I just really like to plan!
Is there a certain brand of diapers and/or detergent that you all prefer?
Please star this question if you have contacts who cloth diaper…I want as much input as possible!
We’re considering using cloth diapers, partially for the cost-benefit and patially because it seems a shame to toss out so much trash if it can be avoided. However, we’re really overwhelmed with all of the options and differing techniques.
After quite a bit of research we think that we’ve decided on fitted diapers (possibly kissaluvs), but are a little intimidated by the costs and the potential for ruining them and/or buying something that doesn’t work. What about liners? Can flats be used as liners to "protect" the fitteds or is this just way too much cloth?
Plus, since they aren’t all-in-ones we need a diaper-cover. For this we were thinking the Bummis Super-Whisper Wrap, but that seems like a diapering system where fitteds aren’t necessary (maybe they wouldn’t even work).
To top it all off, we’re not in a position where one of us can stay home. Is cloth diapering even feasible for us? Sorry about the rambling question, we’re definitely novices and could use any help. Thanks
Part 2 of the cloth diaper series focuses on the fitted cloth diaper with a wrap around plastic cover. Juliet with Mommyswami shows how to use fitted cloth diaper and discusses the pros and cons. Visit our blog www.mommyswami.com to learn more about natural parenting choices.
I am interested in using reuseable wipes since I will be cloth diapering anyway… Can I put them in a wipe warmer? I think it will make it more pleasant for all of us.
