I am due in October and am starting our with kissaluvs fitteds with covers as a newborn, but am contemplating using a different kind once the baby gets a little older. What diapers do you recommend as day diapers? Night time diapers? Also, do you recommend wool covers?

My baby is now 2 months old. I used kissaluvs and am now using clover diapers by preciousdignity.com. I should have skipped kissaluvs, because my 8lb 13 oz baby outgrew them in two weeks and the clover smalls fit at birth, but you never can tell. My absolute best advice is to buy one of several kind of diapers, test them out, and then buy what fits your baby and your preferences best. There is no substitute for testing a diaper system as much as we mamas like to buy things in advance. Once I chose clover diapers, I got ALL clover (except my one lonely bumgenious) that way I don’t have to think hard about wether to put on the day dipe or the night dipe or what to put in the diaper bag, if he falls asleep unexpectedly for a long nap or I shop an extra hour, he’s already in a great absorbant diaper.
I chose clover diapers because they are sooo cute, but also they are very absorbant good for naps and nighttime, they are cotton velour so my baby doesn’t get rashes like in the bumgenious, they have a lifetime guarantee, they last for more than one baby (it seemed like after reading reviews that a lot of pocket diapers wore out in 8-9 months), they are made in the usa, they have snaps, they have adjustable elastic in the legs and waist, they are cheap, they have the best customer service ever, etc.
I think wool covers are just way too pricey to but on a baby bum, but that is just me. I’d get one if my baby had a big problem with rashes and need something really breathable though.
I like one size pockets the best, for night time use you just add another insert and there is no having to buy new nappies every time Alex puts on weight!
I have never used wool soakers, all my covers for the flats are PUL.
I love Tots Bots Bamboozle, which are a separate fitted nappy and cover system.
They are comfortable, last a good while, and environmentally friendly (bamboo grows like a weed and requires much less water than cotton).
I can’t find a nappy that works for us at night anymore, not since my son was about 8 months old. I have to use disposables:( He is a VERY heavy wetter and feeds frequently through the night.
KCK ones are the best I have found and I LOVE them!!! I have been cloth diapering since baby #2 and I am on #3…I am not a fan of snaps though as I have not had any luck with them giving me a good enough fit. Plus once baby is rolling over a lot and crawling try putting anything that snaps on him! I am using the KCK ones with my 10 month old and 2 1/2 year old at the moment. The 2 year old is potty trained but she still wets at night pretty regularly. What I like best about the KCK one is that she doesn’t wet through it at night! The pocket is so generous that I am able to easily put 2 16×16 microfiber cloths in it. I have had no issues with leaking from these. These work for day and night. Plus they are a lot thinner/trimmer than many cloth diapers I have tried so baby isn’t so bulked!
It is recommended to change baby every 2 hours during the day. That eliminates a lot of daytime leaks.
I have never tried wool covers mainly because I find it too hot and kinda itchy personally.
